Open Question: Whats the BEST computer besides a Macbook for a photographer?

If you use iPhoto or other Mac based software for your photo editing, you need a mac. They're light and portable.

If you don't use Mac software, then pretty much any Windows based laptop beyond the very cheapest will meet your criteria. You'll need to balance the benefits of weight vs. screen size. Bigger screens with more pixels make photo editing much easier. It also adds to the weight.

One physical feature that's difficult to find outside a MacBook Pro is the all aluminum case that handles field conditions well.
