Your processor is 64-bit. Not all Pentium 4's are, but Intel says yours has the 64-bit instructions: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27462&processor=524&spec-codes=SL8PN,SL8ZZ,SL9CA
A 3 GHz Pentium 4 is rather underpowered by today's standards. Modern netbooks have that level of processor. If you're adding memory to speed things up, your processor is most likely the bottleneck that's slowing everything down.
