I tried to hit the "Enter" key but it never worked, nor it does with any letter or number. Do you know what is going on with the keyboard and are there any ways for me to fix that problem?Answer Question

Shubham Gore by Shubham Gore Member since:November 26, 2010Total points:523 (Level 2)Maybe someone has Plugged out the Keyboard Plug from your Board or it is loose.
Try plugging in your keyboard to a different USB Port, then check whether it works or not?
Maybe your KeyBoard is malfuctioning, try it on a different computer, if needed replace your Old Keyboard with a new one.

Open Question: What computer should i get?

Open Question: What computer should i get?

Easily! Even a computer costing half as much would be capable of playing those games well. Note that for gaming a desktop is always recommended over a laptop. Desktop components are more powerful to begin with and a desktop of equivalent performance costs much less. Also, desktops can be upgraded later... laptops cannot.

I recommend something with a Core i7 processor and Radeon 6950 or GeForce GTX 560Ti graphics card (or better)

These are excellent gaming PCs:

Open Question: Sony vaio c series or hp pavilion dv6?

Open Question: Sony vaio c series or hp pavilion dv6?

An accurate answer requires knowing what you want to do with that laptop.

In addtion to the points you made above:
The HP has a quad core processor, the Sony's i5 is a dual core
HP has 6770M graphics, Sony 6630M

The HP will do better at all computational and gaming tasks.

A FullHD screen in a laptop is useful if you're doing photography work or frequently work with documents that you need to zoom out on, because you get more details. It doesn't help much with text, because you're limited by the physical height of readable text on screen. Full HD also overwhelms most video cards in laptops, so you have to choose lower resolutions for gaming anyway.

Bottom line - the HP works better for all but a few specific tasks (photo editing). Of course, the Sony is showier in the orange case.

Open Question: Can I use a PCIe x16 2.0 card in a PCIe x16 1.0 slot?

Open Question: Can I use a PCIe x16 2.0 card in a PCIe x16 1.0 slot?

Yes. It will run at the slower data transfer rate of 1.0, but that's not as much of a performance hit as you might think. Usually no more than 10% less than what a full 2.0 motherboard would provide.

Thats because the memory bus to the graphics card is rarely saturated, an never for long. There's a lot of idle time on the buss while the card is busily building 3D graphic models for gaming.

Open Question: I need a recommendation on a laptop.?

Open Question: I need a recommendation on a laptop.?

I am looking for a new laptop. It would be used 100% for business. I hate all of the garbage that comes on new computers today. I would be happy with just an OS and nothing else. At first, I was thinking about getting one with 8GB of Ram but, as it turns out, the software that I will need to run only recommends 1GB so a 4GB machine would probably be just fine.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

Open Question: is it worth the $ and time to upgrade my CPU from:?

Pentium 4 = old

No, you have a high-end P4 as it is

Only time you should consider upgrading your cpu is if your mainboard is fairly new and you have a low-end cpu in it.

Open Question: My Amigo360 reports I only have 2gb memory even though 4gb is installed?

Open Question: My Amigo360 reports I only have 2gb memory even though 4gb is installed?

Its not always the case, that it will show the whole RAM you have installed is being used by your operating System.
For example, even if you have installed 4 Gb RAM on an 32 Bit Windows 7, it will still show, 2.99 Gb as usable RAM, Because the 32 Bit Operating System is not capable of Handling More RAM, Even if you Install 16 Gb RAM, it will still show you the Same 2.99 Gb RAM.
(P.S. : 64 Bit Windows 7 is capable of Handling about 3.86 Gb RAM.)

If you still think, one of the RAM chip is not Functioning, you can always check, using the System Information utility of Windows Operating System that what is the amount of Installed Physical memory in your Computer.
Open command prompt (Run then type in cmd and press enter)
In command Prompt, type in "systeminfo" and press enter and then satisfy yourself.

* I dont wanna be rude, But...
I Dis-agree with whyme123's First line,
"If your ram chip "Crapped", you wouldn't even be able to boot into windows."

Because, if you have multiple slots for RAM and multiple RAM chip installed in your system, the CPU will not generate the error-code (or Beep alert for RAM) during the POST (Power On Self Test ) even if only a single RAM chip is Functioning properly, rest all got failed, it will ignore the other RAM Chips Failure.
The First line is true, only when it doesn't recognize a single RAM-Chip (No Ram at all).
:(

Hope, it is cleared, Best of Luck.

Open Question: Why is my laptop being slow!?

Open Question: Why is my laptop being slow!?

If you think the problem is related to the drop, then the chances are; its probably the HDD which is damaged. I mean it makes sense too if its producing squealing noise indicating you've probably damaged the bearing which keeps the hard-disk spinning.

I will strongly advice you backup your important stuffs NOW as there's no way of telling when it will stop completely (data recovery is more costly then you could ever imagine).

After you backup your stuffs, download and use HDDScan: http://hddscan.com/

Just keep your finger crossed that S.M.A.R.T doesn't tell you that your Hard-disk is about to die. If it does, the easy fix will be replace your HDD (but we will then had to worry about Operating System later).
