Open Question: Why does my Lenovo Thinkpad y460p's sound turn off when I unplug the power cord?

I'm not sure if it is a power conservation measure or if I can change that setting somehow. In case it helps, my laptop's battery was at about 50% when I unplugged it and the sound turned off.
