Open Question: should I wait to buy an iPad, is there going to be a newer version soon? any ideas?

I am taking summer classes and have to commute for 2 hours each way so an ipad would be conveint but I dont kknow if i should hold out and wait to buy the newer version if there is even one...
This happened with my current iPhone, i bought a new iPhone 3G a month before the release of iPhone 4... FML
