Open Question: Sega Genesis Emulator freezes/distorts laptop?

4:05 PM Posted by Anonymous

So, last night I downloaded Gens, an emulator for Sega Genesis. Everything worked perfectly last night, but this morning when I open the program, my laptop screen gets distorted - colours get faded, everything shrinks to one half of the screen while the other goes completely black. When I try to close the program, I can't - nor can I properly shut down my computer. I can still move my cursor, but nothing I click seems to do anything. All that I can click are the menu options in the program itself.

The emulator itself works perfectly, as long as I make it full screen: none of the monitor distortion applies, the game works fine, everything is cool...except I can't close it.

Task manager does nothing - when I click End Task, nothing happens.

Anyone know why this might be happening / how I can fix this?

Additional info:

- I'm running Windows Vista on a Toshiba laptop. Thats all I really know about my computer...If you need any other specs to figure out whats going on, just let me know and I'll find out.

- I also downloaded/used another emulator, Kega Fusion. I had totally different problems with it (keyboard commands did nothing), so I downloaded Gens but didn't immediately uninstall Kega - this was when Gens worked perfectly. This morning I uninstalled Kega, and that's when the issues started with Gens. I'm sure this probably has something to do with the problem, I just really don't know what...
