Open Question: how to set up a mic on my laptop?

It has 2 wires, one for the headphones and one for the mic.so i connect them and try to test it on my laptop but it doesnt work. i use skype and it says the mic must be connected and so on i went to the control panel and wanted to add it as a device but it doesnt show up. I have the correct wired and the correct place to put the wires, but how do i set them up?there are in the right port but where do i go to get it ditected?48 minutes agoAnswer Question
