Open Question: Who makes a better Laptop, HP,or Dell.. Because i'm looking for a good used one, Full size/ or Mini.?

Open Question: Who makes a better Laptop, HP,or Dell.. Because i'm looking for a good used one, Full size/ or Mini.?

I would definitely suggest going with a full-sized laptop because, as said before, minis are really awful. I would not suggest buying a used laptop unless it's from someone you know and trust because there could be any number of malware or even hardware problems with the computer that may cost you more and more money to repair.

Between HP and Dell, it really just depends on the specs of the computer. If it were between two with the same specs, I would personally choose Dell, but HP is a fine computer as well. It also depends for which purposes you will be using the computer. Just distinguish which one has better hardware for the price you are getting. Also, if you're getting a used one, check which software they already have installed on it, which may tip the favor of your getting it and not having to spend another few hundred on software. I'm assuming for $300, you should want around a 2GHz processor, graphics card I don't think is significant for your purposes if you aren't gaming on it, 1 or 2 GB of RAM, and however much storage you want on the hard drive.

Open Question: sony vaio laptop running high temps?

How old is your laptop? It could be the fan needs to be replaced. Try getting rid of programs you dont use.

Make sure your laptop is on a flat surface(not on your lap) and nothing is covering the vents. If you laptop is on lap, your clothes can cover the vents on the bottom(vents are on side and bottom of laptop) too much and cause the heat to build up and not be able to escape.

Home >All Categories > Computers & Internet >Hardware >Laptops & Notebooks >Open QuestionI bought an alienware M17x from Dell and was annoyed to find out that you had to upgrade the screen with and option that wasn't avalible at the time it was bought one the australian website, so i wanted to know if it is possible to get a 3d moniter and glasses connected to the laptop (since i can no longer change the order) and still get a 3d experience.
By the way i do have a 3d capeable graphics card, 2.3ghz core i7 with turbo boost 2.0 and 16gbs of ram.Answer Question

Eric H by Eric H Member since:March 02, 2008Total points:520 (Level 2)No, if you did not preorder it with 3D, it will not work with a 3D monitor. THey probably did not upgrade the graphics card to support 3D, as you did not upgrade your screen. There are different variations of laptop cards for different prefferences(3D or not) However, if you receive it, you probably would be able to send it back and ask for them to upgrade it to 3D

Open Question: what is the best type of laptop to get for a college kid?

I have had a Sony Vaio for the last 4 years, it is great. Never had a problem with it.

Avoid Tashiba, Had that laptop before and it was a joke. Had to replace the battery and cords many times because it would not charge, top cover cracked for no reason. Kept freezing up, and overheated within 30 min-1 hour of use. Only had this laptop for about a year.
