when using the english layout, Z is assigned to Z and Y is assigned to Y.
but when switching to certain keyboard layouts, i.e. german, Y becomes Z and Z becomes Y.
is there any way i can make it so, that when switching from ENG to GER, Y remains Y and Z remains Z?
better still ....is there any way to assign custom keys to a certain language? - can i define how keys are mapped in a certain keyboard layout?

Open Question: Why is macbook better than pc?
Nor are they faster, as they use the same processors and RAM as a PC. You just pay more for the same processor and RAM when buying a MAC.
For what you pay for a Macbook, you can get a PC laptop of the same quality and more powerful.
Macbooks shine for those who do a lot of video editing, MAC has some of the best video editing software on the market.
PCs shine at expandablity and price, you can get more for you money in power in a PC.
As for viruses, I have not gotten a virus in years on my PC. It all comes to down to using a firewall, antivirus and not opening up everything that comes through your email.
Open Question: Laptop is slowly dying? what to do?
1)Close all open windows and programs.
2)Click the start menu and type "msconfig" in the search box and press enter on your keyboard (do not include the quotations).
3)Click the tools tab at the top, scroll down the page and select "System Restore." Then click the "Launch" button at the bottom right.
4)A new window will appear which is the first page of the System Restore utility. Click the next button.
5)Click the check box "Show more restore points" to see the full list of restore points available.
6)Pick the date and time you want restore to and click next.
7)Click Finish. Windows will restart and then begin the restore. Usually this process takes about 3-6 minutes. After the process is complete System Restore will tell you whether the restore completed successfully.
Yes, the Antivirus that you have installed will be removed if you are restoring your PC to a date before installing the AV.
You can install the Antivirus once again after doing a system restore.
Hope this help's, Good Luck

Open Question: Is Acer a good, ok, or bad brand of computer?
Unless you are looking for a cheap throwaway laptop, don't bother.
If money is an issue and if all you plan on doing is "just to browse the web, play a few DVDs and talk with people on Msn", get a Netbook.
Netbooks are cheaper and you can go with a good brand. Netbooks are great for the few things you want to do.
Asus makes a nice Netbook.

Open Question: Can I install a new graphics card in my laptop?
Is it even possible and if so, could I install it myself ?
If not, how much, approximately, would it cost me to pay someone to install it for me?
I'm looking to get a good graphics card which is fairly future-proof and capable of running MMORPG's at high detail with a playable FPS.
The laptop I own is the: Packard Bell EasyNote TJ68.
The graphics card currently installed is: Intel GMA 4500M integrated graphics processor.
I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could help me out here + if you need anymore information, just ask!
Okay thank you guys, I guess i'll call up and ask if they do upgrades.
Open Question: can my computer still work without its hardrive?
I would recommend an Ubuntu Live CD. You can download the live edition of Ubuntu and burn an iso to a disk and then set your BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD ROM drive. Have your SD stick in the USB slot when you boot and Linux should detect the stick.
The only other question is, what is on the SD stick and is the software or whatever you have on it, compabitle with the Linux operating system. FAT 32 which is what most SD sticks are formatted to are recognized in Linux, so its not a matter of not being able to see the files there - it may be a problem using the files because the kind of files or the format of the files or the file extensions may not be compatible in Linux itself. You might want to get onto the Ubuntu forum and post a question there asking if there is a Windows EMULATOR you could launch within Ubuntu that simulates Windows and could potentially allow you to use the files or software inside the emulator.

Open Question: when i insert sd card to laptop nothing happens?
A bad card
A dodgy reader
Reader can't recognise size card
Assuming you are running windows insert the card.
Right click My computer or computer depending on version.
Left click manage
double click storage
double click disk management
That should show whether or not the reader can see the card
You can try your card in another reader or a different card in yours to narrow down the possibilities.
