Open Question: Why does my computer keep shutting down after a few minutes?

No Drama Member since:April 02, 2006Total points:5,419 (Level 5)I don't know what I tinkered with but it shuts itself down after a few minutes (20 minutes give or take) while I'm surfing the net. What could I have done? Is there a way to fix this?Answer Question
by bballpro... Member since:February 05, 2008Total points:113 (Level 1)This could mean many things. The first I'd expect is heat. Check to see how dusty your fans INSIDe the computer are. Open the case, and locate the large fan that sits inside, and hopefully your technical you understand when I say its on the motherboard. This is the CPU fan. Take condensed air, DO NOT SHAEK IT, spray once outside your case to release any liquid, then spray clean your fans. If this doesn't work, and it was not heat, it could be any myriad of problems, including a faulty power supply, hard drive failure, etc. Does it show a BSOD? (Blue Screen of Death, anything that looks like a blue screen before it shuts down)

OR try cleaning thew dust from your PC fanRun a virus check first before you do anything drastic as a reinstall. If it does come to that, back up first.
