get my laptop.. had it for one year now and its awesome! best tech for the $
how do i know its a good laptop? well I fix computers for a living..
take them apart, upgrade them etc.

most companies cut corners and try very hard not to give you any quality parts...
asus at least gives you more quality then most and doesn't always charge a premium.

it runs the windows 7 it comes with.. runs linux good to!
good internal parts to. from a tech point of view.

has a rubber part for your palms so you don't slip as your typing.. its really nice..
keyboard lights up so you can see it at night time..
has 4 usb ports.. cd/dvd burner. usb webcam quadcore cup comes with 6gb of ram
but it does go up to 16 (witch i currently have)
and a really nice video card! great for games!
