Open Question: My keyboard does not work with some computer games...?

I bought the game "call of juarez bound in blood" last night on Amazon for download and when it finished downloading I installed the game then it asked me to create an account in the game, so I went to make an account and when went to type in the username all it would do is show numbers and special characters. (^$^%$) etc. Then for the password I ented it the same issue and the keys do not stay the same so when it asked me to confirm my password I couldn't... got any ideas on how to fix this?
