Have you checked out your card's temps while playing Civilization? Artifacting usually happens when the card get too hot. Try blowing the dust off the card's heatsink to see if that helps.

Is it going to die... Yes if you keep it overclocked high. I think your card hit it's limit.

Think of an overclocked processor. If you play games and just used it to surf the web you may never see a Blue Screen. Then once you run a stress program like IntelBurnTest it will fail.
