alex by alex Member since:October 15, 2009Total points:244 (Level 1)i do that a lot. go to control panel. and change power setting to low power. and change it so that it never goes to sleep. now leave it on. wont consume much power so it wont stress your pc too much. it isnt that great to do but if you need to, you need to.Russ Jones by Russ Jones Member since:July 25, 2010Total points:145 (Level 1)yeah definately, i leave mine in on charge all the time!!

When the battery is full, the internal charging mechanism will stop charging the battery and the laptop will run on the charger.Paul Hannan by Paul Hannan Member since:February 15, 2008Total points:130 (Level 1)As my laptop is my primary phone, my computer is on 24/7, has been for the last 5 yearsI would not change the settings to always leave it on, that is just going to make your computer life shorter in the long run if you think about it. Just let it charge and go to sleep, and once charged it will just stop charging, in no way will it hurt the laptop. But letting it on is a waste of electricity in a time and age when wasting is not good and in this case does nothing to benefit you. Even if it shuts off the worse that will happen is there will be a current in the cord, it will not just keep charging and charging your battery unless you want to have it on all the time. : ) (give that power supply a break) ( ;windows tech and applecare technician for years, more mac, but in this case hardware ishardware.
