Open Question: What type of dc power jack do i Need for my laptop?

I took it to a pc repair shop and they said my dc powerjack was blown ( easy fix a weeks work they said) however it has been 3 weeks and they said they cant find a powerjack for my model computer and that most likely I would have to replace my motherboard. Wasnt sure if this was a money scam how can they have new motherboards but no replacement dc jack. I need help finding the dc power jack for an ASUS model: G51VX. I have looked everywhere on many different sites so if anyone can find it and help me it would be much appreciated and save me loads of money.Answer Question

It is likely they normally just buy them on ebay and can't find it when they do a search. Asus do not make a brand new design dc jack for every single laptop they make. That would be crazy. So there will be other jacks listed for other models that will work just fine for yours. I recommend you call ASUS customer service and find out the other computers that use the same motherboard as your own or if they can tell you what laptops use the same dc jack. A DC jack takes an hour to fix at most. A normal price to do the work would be around $50 to $75. There is no reason it should have take 3 weeks to get to this point. The part itself should cost you no more than $5 Don't be scammed. It sounds to me they are too lazy to do the research and they make more money if you swtich your motherboard anyway.
