Open Question: Why can I only hear the audio in the AVI clips on Windows Movie Maker, but there's no picture?

I imported the AVI clips to Windows Movie Maker on my windows vista computer (the program that the computer comes with) and there is only audio when you play the clip. There's no picture. Open Question: When I open a video in sony vegas, the audio is all messed up?

Some parts of the video the audio is fine, but other parts of the video don't have the right audio at all. It's like it has all been switched around. Some of the video doesn't even have any sound.
